11-19-2024 The Albufera Natural Park
If you have rented with us and are looking for nature routes in Valencia, the Albufera Natural Park is a destination rich in natural, ethnological, and gastronomic treasures.
Known in some Arabic poems as the Mirror of the Sun, it is a freshwater lagoon connected to the sea through channels. This creates a unique habitat with incredible biodiversity. Located just 10 km from the city of Valencia, it was declared a natural park in 1986. The park spans 23.94 km² and is surrounded by over 200 km² of rice fields.
In 1902, the Valencian writer Vicente Blasco Ibáñez wrote the novel Cañas y barro, set in the Albufera at the beginning of the 20th century.
Its ecological value is immense, as it is home to endangered species and is one of the few lagoons in the Valencian Community that remain in good condition. Historically, this coastline was characterized by a succession of lagoons and marshlands.
Here, you can enjoy a guided boat tour and visit the traditional Barraca del Palmar. You can also learn about the ethnological heritage of the surrounding villages, such as El Palmar, and dine in one of the popular local restaurants. And above all, you can do what all the locals do: head there to watch the sunset.
If you're visiting Oliva beach, Valencia, this is the perfect plan for your trip!
