05-07-2024 Blue Flag Awarded to Rabdells Beach in Oliva, Valencia

When you come on vacation to the beach in Oliva, Valencia, you probably already know what the red, yellow, and green flags mean… but what about the blue one?

The Blue Flag is an award given annually since 1987 by the Foundation for Environmental Education to beaches and ports that meet certain environmental and facility criteria.

So, what criteria are used to grant it?

• Quality of bathing water

• Environmental information and education

• Environmental management and safety

• Services and facilities

In other words, if you see this flag on a beach, it means you're swimming at a top-notch beach!

Here are 3 interesting facts (which put us in a great light):

• Spain has been the country with the most Blue Flags for 30 consecutive years: this summer, 638 beaches will display it, making up 15% of all Blue Flag beaches worldwide.

• The Valencian Community continues to lead with the most Blue Flags (159, six more than last year), followed by Andalusia, Galicia, and Catalonia.

• Oliva has 5 Blue Flag beaches! T

his year, the Blue Flag was awarded to Rabdells beach, bringing the total in Oliva to five:

• Pau-Pi Beach

• Aigua Blanca Beach

• Terranova Beach
